Stem cell therapy with SVF

Treatment with the stroma vascular fraction is a special form of stem cell therapy. CellReg has been allowed to use it since 2017 with the approval of the Baden-Württemberg Regional Council. It is an integral part of the treatment of sports injuries and osteoarthritis. The principle is strikingly simple, the results impressive and the range of applications enormous.

The Stroma Vascular Fraction

The stroma vascular fraction is a mixed tissue with cells and structural proteins which are obtained through specific production. Among these cells are also stem cells which are molecularly characterized by surface antigens.

This cell therapy (homologous use of cells with transplantation to another part of the body) also requires approval from a regional council in Europe. This is to prevent ineffective or even harmful therapies from being offered and carried out. If you want to be sure, ask to see the approval. The use of this SVF fraction with the stem cell component to regenerate tissue other than fat (heterologous use) requires a much more extensive approval, namely under Section 13 AMG for so-called ATMPs (Advanced Therapeutic Medical Products).

Sports injury

In the case of sports injuries, the aim is to regenerate the body's own tissue in its original quality and this depends on the number of stimulating cells such as stem cells. This fact is scientifically undisputed.

Osteoarthritis

The treatment of osteoarthritis with SVF has 2 objectives. Firstly, the chronic inflammatory process of the joint is positively influenced by the body's own anti-inflammatory proteins, reducing swelling and pain and increasing mobility. On the other hand, the remaining cartilage is stabilized and in some cases new cartilage can be formed. However, this has not yet been scientifically proven.

Treatment procedure
Before the procedure

You do not have to fast. The information sheet will be discussed with you again and any open questions will be clarified. You will also be asked to take part in our study on the course of treatment. Questionnaires will be sent to you by email at regular intervals and you will be asked to answer them. If you agree, a therapy-specific MRI will also be carried out at the beginning of treatment and after one year. The time required in the practice is a maximum of 2 hours.

The engagement

You will be connected to a monitoring monitor that measures blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation. First, the abdominal area (if there is not enough fat here, then the flanks) is washed sterilely and covered. The necessary fat is then extracted under local anesthesia and then processed in the laboratory. The SVF is then concentrated and activated. Approximately 45 minutes later, the SVF is injected under local anesthesia. The injection procedure is the same as for other injections such as hyaluronic acid or cortisone.

After the procedure

You can assume that you will be mobile afterwards, meaning you will be able to use public transport without any problems. If you drive your own car, you should take someone with you as a potential chauffeur, as your ability to drive may be limited due to the administration of the local anesthetic. We recommend a "booster" injection with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) 2 and 4 months after the procedure.

You can expect a significant improvement in mobility and a reduction in pain in over 80% of cases between 1 week and 6 months.
